Hoya polyneura Broget (mutation RC)
Description
Hoya polyneura ‘mutation RC’ (sometimes called a “fish‑tail” hoya) is a vining epiphytic plant prized by collectors for its graceful, lance-shaped leaves with distinctive, fine fishbone-style venation. The “RC” mutation refers to a subtle but desirable variation that may affect leaf width or growth habit, giving it an even more elegant or textured appearance.
Light
Thrives in bright, indirect light, similar to its natural forest habitat. Avoid harsh midday sun to preserve delicate leaf structure.
Watering
Let the soil dry out somewhat between waterings — but don’t let it stay bone dry. Many growers say it doesn’t like to be too wet or too dry. Overwatering is a common issue, so aim for a balance.
Humidity
Prefers moderate to high humidity. Mimicking its native environment with elevated humidity — via misting, a pebble tray, or grouping with other plants — helps it thrive.
Temperature
Best in temperatures between 18–27°C. Avoid cold drafts, as cooler temperatures and excess moisture can stress the plant.
Soil
Grows best in a well-aerated, chunky mix — orchid bark, perlite, coco coir or peat-based mixes all work well. This helps replicate its epiphytic roots’ natural environment and prevents waterlogging.
