Scindapsus treubii ‘Moonlight’ is a slow-growing climbing or trailing aroid valued for its thick, elongated leaves with a smooth, satin sheen. Each leaf has a cool, silver-green overlay that gives it a soft “moonlit” glow, especially in indirect light. Leaves are typically leathery, slightly curved along the midrib, and reach 10–20 cm in length when mature. Growth is compact but can produce long runners when given support.
Light Requirements:
Prefers bright, indirect light. It tolerates medium light but will grow more slowly. Avoid strong, direct sun, which can cause silvering to fade and scorch the leaf surface.
Watering:
Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil is dry. It dislikes sitting in consistently wet soil and is prone to root rot if overwatered. Let the pot drain fully after each watering.
Humidity:
Enjoys 50–70% humidity. It tolerates standard household levels but appreciates extra humidity for larger, more silvery leaves.
Temperature:
Thrives between 18–28°C. Protect from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 15°C.
Soil:
Use a well-draining, airy mix—for example, peat-free houseplant compost blended with bark, perlite, and a little coco coir. This prevents compaction around the roots.
Fertiliser:
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced, diluted houseplant fertiliser. Reduce feeding in winter.
Growth Habit:
Slow to moderate. Can trail from a shelf or climb a moss pole or trellis. Climbing typically encourages larger, more elongated leaves.
