Hoya fitchii is a striking wax plant native to the Philippines, known for its large, leathery, oval leaves with elegant venation that gives it a “webbed” or netted appearance. It produces clusters of star-shaped, fragrant flowers—ranging from coral-pink to orange depending on light and growing conditions. Named after Charles Marsden Fitch, this Hoya makes a dramatic statement whether trailing or climbing.
Care Guide
• Light: Prefers bright, indirect light or dappled sunshine. Avoid intense direct sun, though some filtered rays can deepen its leaf colour.
• Watering: Let the soil dry out almost completely between waterings. A good watering interval is roughly every 10–14 days, depending on your home conditions.
• Humidity: Enjoys moderate to high humidity (around 50–70%). Higher humidity supports leaf health and can encourage flowering.
• Temperature: Ideal range is about 18–29°C. Avoid cold drafts and chilly spots.
• Soil: Use a chunky, well‑draining mix (e.g. orchid bark + perlite + coco coir) to mimic its natural epiphytic environment.
• Fertiliser: Feed lightly during the growing season with a diluted, balanced liquid fertiliser (e.g. every 3–4 weeks).
