Hoya ‘Rosita’ (Red Maroon)
Hybrid: Hoya wayetii × Hoya tsangii
Hoya ‘Rosita’ is a sought-after hybrid known for its narrow, glossy leaves that develop deep red to maroon tones in strong light. The foliage grows along arching, semi-trailing vines, creating a graceful, cascading look. With enough light, it produces clusters of fragrant, reddish-pink blooms.
Light
•Bright, indirect light is essential for the red/maroon colouring.
•Can tolerate some gentle morning sun.
•Too little light results in greener leaves and slower growth.
Watering
•Allow the top 2–3 cm of soil to dry between waterings.
•Water thoroughly, but avoid waterlogging.
•Slightly drought-tolerant thanks to semi-succulent leaves.
Humidity
•Prefers 50–70% humidity.
•Adapts well to average household humidity but benefits from occasional misting.
Temperature
•Ideal: 18–27°C.
•Avoid temperatures below 15°C.
•Keep away from cold drafts and abrupt changes.
Soil
•Requires a light, airy, fast-draining mix.
•Best blend: orchid bark + perlite + coco coir or peat.
•Avoid dense potting soils.
Growth
•Semi-trailing vine; eventually reaches 1 metre or more.
•Produces clusters of star-shaped flowers in high light and stable conditions.
Notes
•Colours intensify with higher light levels.
